Nature is Punk
Think about a definition of punk that doesn't involve the music. It's something that fends for itself with no regard for society or other individuals. It's something that visually kicks ass, in a strange, original way. It is often out of place. Disturbed. A little dangerous. It strongly adheres to DIY culture and attitudes.
Nature is punk as hell.
You know when there is one cubic milimetre of dirt in the crack of a sidewalk, and 3 blades of grass parked there, savagely reaching for the sun? When trees grow through fences? When invasive plants run underground for metres to pop up where they are least expected? When a bird drops a seed in their feces miles away from the host plant, and it appears out of nowhere?
Nature will never be stopped, never follow rules, never be told to slow down, quiet down, stay in place. Nature will flourish without rain, plants can sometimes grow in impossible conditions. You cannot teach it manners, you cannot hope to bend it to your will.
No matter how ratty and ragged a plant is, it has amazing self esteem and does not care for your opinion. You don't have to accept it, Nature could not possibly care less.
You are the man. Down with the man. Nature will always kick your sorry ass.
